Like a stellar alignment, something special happens in music when gifting, talent and hard work converge to release an unrivalled creative force. In rap, Hip Hop and urban melody, Daniel Oguntola AKA YB Mully, is that force. Born in Lewisham South East London, growing up in The Gambia West Africa, then Milton Keynes via Nottingham and Wolverhampton, YB Mully’s has been doing music seriously half his life, writing performing, and releasing music and videos with his younger sibling as Tantrum XG since 2014.He went solo during the 2020 lockdown building a music studio in his parents garage, and since then has released a handful of certified bangers, and produced over 100 demos.
YB Mully can’t be pinned down to a sound because his eclectic style of writing, as seen in his debut 2021 solo single UNLIMITED FLOWS, is an all-out acknowledgment and celebration of his unique ability to approach every song differently. Whilst his follow up single LOYALTY is is an energetic rampaging drill floor-filler, his third release, 2023’s LEAN BACK paints a minimalist shadow on the desolation of UK street culture. YB Mully’s on-going free style rap series FLOWCITY further demonstrates his creative narrative approach and versatile flow ability, with his Xmas 2022 BLACK BOX freestyle proving he can produce the coldest of flows to order. In Summer 2022 YB Mully was also co-signed to support Afrobeat songstress SIMI for the UK leg of her world tour which resulted in him producing the 6-track Afro-Swing ep MORE LOVE, ffurther demonstrating his diverse mastery in urban street genres.
